Everyone has heard about the many benefits of drinking an adequate amount of water every day: 

  • Keeps the brain sharp
  • Brightens mood
  • Helps soften impact on joints
  • Delivers nutrients
  • Promotes a healthy digestive system
  • Energizes muscles
  • Makes skin glow

Despite this knowledge, more than 50% of adults do not drink the recommended daily amount.

One big reason is that they don’t realize what that recommended amount actually is for themselves.

The simple answer: Divide your weight by 2 and drink that amount in ounces every day (so, if you weigh 200 lbs. you should drink 100 ozs.)

Now that you know this, it's time to keep track of exactly how much you drink every day.

SO HOW DO I TRACK MY DAILY H2O INTAKE?

(I am counting cups consumed on the top and ounces on the bottom...alternatively, you could count the number of trips to the bathroom on the top!)

Timing your intake is also key to better health. A new study recommends drinking a glass of water 30 minutes before mealtime. In a group weight loss study, those who drank a glass of water 30 minutes prior to mealtime lost 9.5 lbs over 12 weeks. Those who didn't? Only averaged 1.5 lbs lost.
